At a time when the Football World Cup is in full swing and the French poeple are very keen on the national team, we take advantage of this news to tell you about a very young sport that you may already know: teqball.
What is teqball?
For those of you who have never heard of this sport, let us introduce you to a few lines.
This sport, created in Hungary in 2016, is a clever mix between football and table tennis (whose table, called teqboard has been redesigned) and has grown worldwide thanks, in large part, to the virality of videos that circulated on social networks but also thanks to its adoption by football stars such as Robert Pirès, Florent Malouda or William Gallas, to name only French footballers.
A booming discipline
Many professional football clubs have now equipped themselves with teqboards in order to improve the recovery of players after an injury.
A national league as well as a World Cup were created for this promising young sport whose rules are very simple: the objective, to send the ball on the side of the opposing table, as in table tennis, but with a limited number of ball touches (3 maximum) and contact surfaces prohibited on the table.
Discover the rules in an explanatory video.
And so it is in the city of Reims that the second Teqball World Cup will take place, more precisely at the René Tys complex, on October 12 and 13. 24 teams are expected for the tournament.
May the best win!
