Notre-Dame de Reims Cathedral


A must-see during your stay in Champagne-Ardenne, the famous Cathedral of Reims represents the emblem of the city and is also a key monument in the history of France with its 800 years of history.

A masterpiece of Gothic art, built in the 13ᵉ century with a particularly rich statuary, Reims Cathedral is famous for being the place of the coronation of the kings of France.

A spectacular monument where you can admire every detail, as with:
  • Its facade where we discover the "smiling angel", the "Gallery of the kings" with its 56 statues on the west facade, but also a representation of the Baptism of Clovis
  • Its large proportions, with a structure measuring 150 meters long, 48 meters wide and 83 meters high
  • Its stained glass windows, works of the artist Chagall
  • Its 249 steps of the North Tower, where you can visit its roof and its terrace to enjoy an incredible panorama of the city of Reims

Open every day from 7:30 am to 7:30 pm, the cathedral is open to the public for free. For those who wish a guided tour, count 9,00€ per person.
 

The Tau Palace


Our team advises you to continue your visit of Reims by discovering the famous Palais de Tau. A visit to be realized to understand the history of the Cathedral of Reims.

The former archiepiscopal palace preserves today the memory of the royal coronations, the statuary and the sculptures of the cathedral too damaged to be left in place.

The Palais de Tau is now used as an exhibition space. All the treasures of the cathedral of Rheims can be found there, such as the various objects that were used at the time for the coronation of the kings. You can discover there:
  • The talisman of Charlemagne
  • The coat of Charles X (worn during his coronation)
  • The Holy Ampoule (used during the coronation of kings since the time of Clovis)
  • The chalice of Saint-Remi
  • Various tapestries and large statues

Open every day (except Monday), the full price is 8,00€, the reduced price is 6,50€.
The palace is open free of charge to the public under 26 years old, to disabled people and to job seekers.


The Basilica of Saint-Rémi


Continue your stroll by discovering the Basilica of Saint-Rémi, a monument built in the Xᵉ century that was nevertheless destroyed during the 1ʳᵉ World War.

The abbey church, Basilique Saint-Rémi: built in the Romanesque period and which was therefore remodeled in the Gothic period has a chevet with magnificent restored 12th century stained glass windows. The Basilica houses the tomb of Archbishop Saint-Remi. It was an important place of pilgrimage in his time.
